Delivery Day!

Last night I was concerned about the slope of the grade for the house to park on, my dad went to the site and ran a dozer over the slope and made it smooth.  It is great having a dad that can run any type of equipment, and fix anything, my worries about the land went away!

My dad and husband also marked the ground for where the houses should be placed for the crane to be able to maneuver between tomorrow.

As expected it stormed last night for hours, so our ground is very wet.  The home is leaving the factory this morning and going to the site. If the site is too wet, we are going to need to park it in the parking lot next to our house and move it to the specific spot later this afternoon once it has dried out.

10:45 AM
First half of home was delivered to the site! Bad news site is too wet for the house, so the house is parked in the Church's parking lot to the east of our lot.  Now crossing our fingers that it will dry up enough for the houses to be moved over to the site this evening with the dozer.

My husband called the guy who is doing the dirt work, he agreed to come out and move the peel the mud.

12:45
The second half of the home is on the site! They got enough mud cleared off for the house to fit into place.  The truck driver being so gracious also moved the first half onto the site.

Cross our fingers that we do not receive any more rain and the crane should be fine in the morning!

The contractor is also on site today, building some walls in the basement in preparation for tomorrows set!

Preparing for Shipment!

Our home is preparing to ship to our lot! Hoping that is right with the weather and the land for the delivery to go smoothly.

The whole process is moving right along, I visited the basement last night, it has been back filled on the front of the home. I would like to visit again tonight to mark where the driver should park the house, weather permitting we can get that done.

There are so many little things throughout the process that it is hard to keep track of what needs done, by when, by who, how long it will take....etc.

We have been pre-approved by the bank, but this week is when we need to lock in our interest rate. Sad news interest rates have gone up about .5% since we started this process, but they are still at a very low rate.  The bank paperwork is a lot to deal with but we should be almost there, and just need to sign our names!

We have a basement floor!

Our basement floor was poured yesterday morning, we visited last night to see the finished product!

We also got a septic tank yesterday - I know not very exciting, but it means progress!  Materials were delievered for the sill plate and the piers for the basement.  This coming week - there will be some walls added to the basement, sill plate installed, and the dirt back filled. By the end of the week we should have a house on the foundation!

My husband drove past the land today and there were men on the site digging for the well! We have water!

The process seems to get a little easier as we can see progress, we will just keep our fingers crossed that it continues to be positive progression! :) Less stress for this pregnant lady!

Moving Along.....

The process of building a home is so much work! I am sure everyone knows this going into building a house, but the small details seem to just keep popping up making things more difficult.  We have been trying for weeks to get the electric companies to come to the land, and decided who will be our service provider, finally this morning the guy from one company came to discuss with my husband.  We had to get an easement from the property owners beside us to be able to get electric run to our house.  This electric company is also going to be our gas company, bad news here, there is only a high pressure gas line ran by our property.  So now we need to pay big bucks to get a gas line to our house! Yay, just what I needed to hear!

On a more positive note, our basement floor is going to be poured tomorrow and the contractor has been making progress on prepping the basement for the perimeter tile, and the pits we will need for our sump and our grinder pit.  This part is exciting to see, any progress is exciting!

My husband and I ordered extra ship loose materials from the factory so our garage siding, shingles, soffit would match the house, we are going to pick that up today, hope it all fits on the trailer!

The piers for the basement support, and the wood for the sill plate is to be delievered tomorrow, lets get this house built!

I am currently at 30 weeks in my pregnancy, and would really love to be in our house when this baby comes!

Rain Rain go away.....

Our basement floor was supposed to be poured either today or tomorrow, weather permitting.  Since we have had so much rain, it is postponed until next week.  I am working on scheduling the set crew and they are scheduling the crane, so hopefully the rain will stay away for a couple of days so we can get this house set!

We are still trying to figure out who is going to be our electric company - our property is divided in half by two different companies.  This would make you think that we could choose which ever we wanted, currently neither of them act interested in gaining our business, (I'm glad this is on my husband's plate and not mine)!

Last weekend we went and purchased our ceramic tile that we are installing in our foyer! Things are coming together!

Home is in the Yard.....

Today our home is in the yard, it still has a few touch ups to be done to it, and then it will be ready to ship to our lot!

The Kitchen is complete!

Laminate flooring will be installed on site once the home is set, I am so excited to see the finished product and start organizing this place! An emotional roller coaster of a week in the production line, now the light at the end of production is shining!

Here are a few more photos of the home.

Day 7 of Production - Home is offline today!

I visited the factory this morning to check on the status of the house, it was in electrical testing, plumbing testing, the carpet was installed and the final crew had started to clean the house.

I visited this afternoon and walked the home, this is done by the inspectors and also usually done by at least one person from the service department. I got to be a part of this and got to point out some things that were not up to par, and the final finish crew would fix any issues.  Usually the final crew paints the walls where any marks were made, muds if any holes need patched, fixes any trim that has an issue, cleans the home, and touches up to make the final product shine! Since I was walking the home for inspection I did not get many photos today.

I found out later this afternoon that the home is actually going to be going out the door tomorrow - so check back for photos! :)
