Rain Rain go away.....

Our basement floor was supposed to be poured either today or tomorrow, weather permitting.  Since we have had so much rain, it is postponed until next week.  I am working on scheduling the set crew and they are scheduling the crane, so hopefully the rain will stay away for a couple of days so we can get this house set!

We are still trying to figure out who is going to be our electric company - our property is divided in half by two different companies.  This would make you think that we could choose which ever we wanted, currently neither of them act interested in gaining our business, (I'm glad this is on my husband's plate and not mine)!

Last weekend we went and purchased our ceramic tile that we are installing in our foyer! Things are coming together!

Home is in the Yard.....

Today our home is in the yard, it still has a few touch ups to be done to it, and then it will be ready to ship to our lot!

The Kitchen is complete!

Laminate flooring will be installed on site once the home is set, I am so excited to see the finished product and start organizing this place! An emotional roller coaster of a week in the production line, now the light at the end of production is shining!

Here are a few more photos of the home.

Day 7 of Production - Home is offline today!

I visited the factory this morning to check on the status of the house, it was in electrical testing, plumbing testing, the carpet was installed and the final crew had started to clean the house.

I visited this afternoon and walked the home, this is done by the inspectors and also usually done by at least one person from the service department. I got to be a part of this and got to point out some things that were not up to par, and the final finish crew would fix any issues.  Usually the final crew paints the walls where any marks were made, muds if any holes need patched, fixes any trim that has an issue, cleans the home, and touches up to make the final product shine! Since I was walking the home for inspection I did not get many photos today.

I found out later this afternoon that the home is actually going to be going out the door tomorrow - so check back for photos! :)

Day 6 of Production

Today the home goes onto the frame that will move the home from the factory to the site! They place four lift machines on each side of one half of the home, they then lift the home and place it on the carrier that will move the house.

The window & door jambs are installed at this station, along with baseboard, window & door trim, and the interior doors are hung.  The ceramic tile backsplash is done here, and the ceramic shower.  The tack strip and carpet pad are installed, and tomorrow it will get carpet. At this point in the line the minor drywall repairs are taped and it will move onto the final stage of drywall tomorrow, they touch up any errors.

It starts looking more like a home at this point with all the components coming together.  Tomorrow will be the last day on the production line!

We have an address!

My husband has been asking since we bought the land how we obtain an address, with not a lot of luck getting an answer.  Finally we are told that after the basement is poured we will be given an address by the county planning committee.  Our basement walls were there, so he called to obtain an address, and was told someone would be out in the near future to look at the property and give us an address.  Later in the day he received a phone call from the city inspector, who said he was told to give us an address.  What a mess, but we have an address now! :)

Day 5 of Production

This morning I did not have a chance to visit the factory on my way into work, I went at lunch time and to my surprise the home was getting its first coat of primer, the electrical recepts were going in, it was being shingled, and siding was being installed on one half. The exterior doors and windows were put in earlier in the morning.

I visited on my way home from work, and the cabinet doors had been installed and the interior doors were installed. Check it out!

Forms are gone!

My husband visited the land this morning to see if anyone was there working, he got there about 9:30, and all the forms had been removed and we have walls!

My husband received a call from the company we thought our electric would go through. Turns out the company we would like to have, service area stops before you reach our house. They say they can put up a post in the middle of our side yard to hold the meter, or we need to contact the other company whose service area our house is in.  We call the other company, they will not come to the property until we have an address, really???? My husband called the planning committee to see if we can get our address, and the lady told me she would let the guy who gives addresses know, and that he would mail us our address. Sometimes you have to wonder about how anything gets done at some of these places! Hopefully we can get our address soon, so we can move forward with the electrical hook up. We had to wait until our basement was poured to even request an address and then a committee member will come and from the middle of your house, give you an address. So now we wait.

Day 4 of Production & Basement Walls!

Today is day 4 in the production line for our house! I visited the factory at 8 in the morning on my way into work, it was getting the final drywall hung, and was ready to go to the mudding station.  Our electrical was not yet hooked-up, and our roof was next to go on.

I did not have a chance in the afternoon time to visit the plant during production, but I did visit about 5 in the afternoon to check on the progress! The whole house has drywall and the seams have been mudded! All of the cabinets are covered in plastic to protect from the mud, paint, mess that will occur in the next couple of stations. Still waiting on electrical to be completed. Here are the afternoon photos.

My husband had a chance to visit our land this afternoon and they were forming for the walls. He sent me a few pictures.

When I got home from work, my parents, my daughter and I visited the land!

We are now waiting for the floor to be poured, the walls to be sealed, the home to come offline, and we will be preparing for a set! It is getting very exciting!

Day 3 of Production

Today is wall set and electrical day! Almost all of the walls were set before I got to the factory this morning. It looks totally different going from a flat floor to walls up everywhere! It was awesome to see this morning.

This afternoon I went back to see what had been accomplished, more walls, the electical wires were being ran, and the attic stairs were in! The base cabinets were set in the home, but now wall cabinets were being installed.

Afternoon trip to the Factory! Kitchen Cabinets are hung on the wall! Our roof is framed, one half has a ceiling! Moving right along!

I got a text message from my husband today with pictures of the footers being poured in our basement!
