Home Improvement Stores

Today we decided that we would go "shopping" for prices at the Home Improvement stores. We visited both Menards and Lowes to check pricing on a few things we are going to need for our new home. We started in the electrical department we will be adding a couple of fans to our new home, we love the look of the fans in our current house, except for the fact that the light is not very bright with the types of globes they have. We picked out a couple of fans we liked and marked down the price.

We moved on to the flooring department, we are omitting the floor in the Living Room, Kitchen,
Dining Room, and Family Room from the factory and installing either hardwood floors or laminate flooring. We decided that we would rather install it for two reasons, one you get a much broader color selection, and two half of the home would have to be installed on site anyway so installing the whole house on site will save us money.

We also visited the paint counters to look at different colors, my three year old wants her room to be many colors, but I think we have her settle on some pink and lime green (this matches her new bedding - for her "big girl" bed). We looked at swatches and looked through the ideas books with the striped walls, and the painted chair rail (they make it look so easy). I plan on keeping it a pretty neutral scheme throughout the house, except for the kids rooms we will probably go a little bright in there!

We checked on a few other things, a garage door, a garage door opener, a water softner, washer & dryer, and some fencing for the backyard.

Overall none of the prices were very surprising to us, but we need to keep in mind all of the little "extra" hidden expenses that we will need to account for.
